Hello, we live on our boat (currently a motor boat, but with the intention of changing to a sailboat). We are currently living in Almeria, but at the beginning of the year we want to move to a marina in Portugal. In Algarve we are considering between Albufeira and Portimao. We like the tranquility. In Albufeira I see too much atmosphere, movement of people, excursions, etc... In Portimao it seems calmer, but I am worried about the movement caused by the passage of boats in the river. The 2 worst nights I have spent moored in port were in Vila Real de Sto. Antonio, due to the movement of the river and the boats that passed by. I see that you have experience in Portimao, how noisy is the southern part of the port? How much movement is there in the northern part? Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi and thanks for your advice. I think books went away with discs. But you have to have slips with at least 2 choices in case you may not have their song… I also use VIRTUAL DJ which is the same price as karaoki but has a few more rich features. You are correct. You are there to host a party and have to have fun. The festive way is dress so invest in shirts hats and glasses. You will keep everyone happy if you don’t cheat. If I get cheated I won’t go back to that show for awhile. When they ask where I’ve been I tell them I was pissed about them putting 3 out of turn singers in front of me. Nice job!!!

i do not use books...the cost of printing a list of 60,000 songs is not cost effective...at least not for me. but if i dont have something that was requested i will work with them...I still use slips or the qr tag that is on the screen that way i can monitor and maintain the order of singers... i will not deviate from that, everybody gets their turn in turn. I use a tip jar but it wont get you ahead of the line.

It is folly not to have a small jetty to bring business to those marina bars. Not sure they can refuse you beach access though. That’s worth checking as long as your dinghy is anchored a few feet offshore??

I appreciate what you've said here as I found out that it's true. I also want to emphasize how many karaoke hosts that I have got annoyed with and walked out on because they were slow on rotation and they had too many full songs and they were singing too many songs themselves and I was waiting too long for that... No I don't want to wait forever to sing a song. So future hosts need to know this up front to stop squandering the customers time especially when they come to sing. Because the customers are waiting!!! How can I explain the importance of this? Because the customers do not come to hear the host sing.
